Well what a roller coaster couple of weeks we have had ....firstly lots of fun in the sun as we went to a fantastic wedding in Kephalonia...congratulations again to Laura and Gareth, what a great event and they certainly know how to party; many of our friends still don't believe us when we say that we were first to leave although it was 1 am after a 6pm wedding ceremony!!
But when we got home reality hit us with a big bang or rather a rather a wet wallop as we succumbed to flooding through both house and shop. The floods from the road were nearly matched by my floods of tears but I was soon to be buoyed up by some wonderful friends in the village who took me aside as I was in shock from seeing my wonderful shop under water. I really cannot thank you all enough and you worked wonders to rescue me and wattle and daub. I would also like to quell the rumour that this event was somehow engineered to invite a flurry of firemen into my home after a long dry spell and no excuse for a chimney fire!!
Anyway, the salvage operation continued and my husband and his brother have taken the opportunity to refinish the floor and beautiful it looks too.
The loss adjustor's and various assorted others assumed that we would be out for around 5 weeks so it is pretty miraculous that we were back in business from Wednesday this week (just 6 days after the great flood).
Now with all this fantastic community spirit I must be able to find an excuse for a party!!
