A Charles II oak boarded box, with hinged cover and lunette carving to the front and sides, on an associated stand with turned legs joined by peripheral stretchers. This bible box ( a term introduced by the Victorians as it is suitable for storing their precious bibles) is on a stand that has probably been added at a later stage in the 19th Century.
